Covering your Scrapbook

You can use your creative genius to produce wonderful covers for your scrapbook. One type you can use are the fabric jackets.

To make a fabric jacket, mark the measurements on the wrong side of the fabric and cut it out. Then you can sew half an inch hem on the two sides and after folding another one quarter inch on both sides you can sew this to the fold.

Flaps can be made by holding the cover on to the book and folding back the fabric on each side of the cover right sides together. After sewing these flaps along the top and bottom on each side of the cover, you must turn right side out and iron it out before putting it on to the scrap book.

Plastic covers are easily created than the fabric ones. The dimensions should be one and a half inch more on all sides. Since you need not hem plastic cover, they just have to be sewed on to wrap around the scrap book.

There is another way to protect your scrapbook which is to keep it safe by following carefully some preservation techniques.

Some simple techniques which can be followed are –

Store the scrapbook in a standing position and do not keep anything on top of it.

Store the scrapbook away from sharp objects in a safe environment.

When not in use make sure scrapbooks are not lying all over the house. They are then prone to accidents and may get spoilt.

Lastly, cover them with a fabric or plastic cover to ensure a lifetime's worth of memories is kept safe and protected.
